Personal Computers and Servers - Classification and Point of Contact

We can classify the computers that MBUZZ handles based on their form-factor as below:

Tower

Workstations, Desktops, Gaming PCs and SFF (Small form factor) PCs fall under this category. These are computers people would use on a desk and rarely move.

MBUZZ offers two solutions for Tower PCs:
  1. Branded tower PCs:

  2. MBUZZ Labs Custom PCs:

The ideal solution/brand for a Tower PC depends on various factors, but it can be mostly narrowed down to the type of CPU and GPU the computer has:

Tower with Desktop CPUs

Desktop CPUs are the ones like the Intel® Core™ i9 14900K and the AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D. Also called Consumer CPUs, one can easily purchase these CPUs as an individual component.
They can be identified as below:
  1. For Intel, they have the Core/Pentium/Celeron name with and ends with a series of numbers followed by K, KF, F, or T or no letter.
  2. For AMD, they have the Ryzen branding and ends with a series of numbers followed by F, X, X3D or G or no letter.
Max Memory Capacity: 64 GB - 192 GB
Based on the type and number of GPUs that these CPUs are paired with, the Tower PC option to go for are as follows:
  1.  Basic Desktop with no GPU or SFF GPUs:
    1. Recommended option: ASUS
    2. Alternate option: Custom PC
  2.  Gaming PC or Workstation with 1 or more GeForce or Radeon GPUs:
    1. Recommended option: Custom PC
    2. Alternate option: Supermicro
  3. Pro Workstation with single RTX or Radeon Pro GPU:
    1. Recommended option: Custom PC/Supermicro
    2. Alternate option: ASUS
  4. High-end Workstation with 2 or more RTX or Radeon Pro GPUs:
    1. Recommended option: Custom PC

Tower with Workstation CPUs

Workstation CPUs have the same architecture as regular desktop-grade CPUs but have advanced features such as support for ECC or registered memory, higher core counts, and more PCIe lanes.
Max Memory Capacity: 256 GB - 4 TB
They can be identified as below:
  1. For Intel, they have the Xeon W branding.
    1. Recommended option: Supermicro
    2. Alternate option: Custom PC
  2. For AMD, they have the Ryzen Threadripper or Threadripper PRO branding.
    1. Recommended option: Custom PC/Supermicro

Tower with Server CPUs

These are CPUs primarily designed for servers and can have dual-processor option in a single system.
Max Memory Capacity: 512 GB - 8 TB
They can be identified as below:
  1. For Intel, they have the Xeon branding (except W) like Silver, Gold, Scalable etc...
  2. For AMD, they have the EPYC branding.
Recommended option: Supermicro
Alternate option: Custom PC

Rackmount/Server

MBUZZ offers two solutions for Rackmount PCs:

  2. MBUZZ Labs custom assembled Servers:
    1. Uses off-the-shelf components MBUZZ partnered vendors, Sales Contact/PM: DLPresales@mbuzztech.com
The ideal solution/brand for a Rackmount PC or Server depends on the type of CPU it has:
  1. For Intel Core, AMD Ryzen and AMD Threadripper based Servers:
    1. Recommended option: Custom Server
  2. For Everything else:
    1. Recommended option: Branded Server, ASUS/Supermicro

Portable

  1. Compact and Portable Computers with 'Mobile' CPUs
  2. Can be identified by having a letter (except K, KF, F, X, T, G, WX, or X3D) after the numbers in the CPU name, like:
    1. Intel® Core™ i5-12500H
    2. Intel® Core™ i3-1220P
    3. AMD Ryzen™ 9 6900HX
    4. AMD Ryzen™ 7 7730U

Laptops
