Troubleshooting on Server Network Speed

Troubleshooting on Server Network Speed

Steps to troubleshoot speed on server for 10G NIC

  1. Verify Network Configuration

    1. Network Adapter Settings: Check the settings of the Intel® Dual Port X710-T2L 10-Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter on each server. Ensure that the adapter is configured for 10Gbps and not limited to 1Gbps.
    2. Open Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel® Dual Port X710-T2L.
    3. Right-click and select Properties.
    4. Go to the Advanced tab and check properties such as "Speed & Duplex." Ensure it's set to "10 Gbps" or "Auto Negotiation."
    5. Switch Configuration: Ensure that the switches the servers are connected to are configured for 10Gbps and are not set to 1Gbps or auto-negotiation that could limit the speed.
  2. Check Cables and Connection

    1. Cable Quality: Verify that you are using the correct cables for 10Gbps. For 10GBase-T, use Cat6a or higher cables. For SFP+ modules, ensure you are using compatible fiber cables or DAC (Direct Attach Copper) cables rated for 10Gbps.
    2. Connections: Ensure all cables are properly connected and seated securely in both the server and switch ports.
  3. Update Drivers and Firmware

    1. Network Adapter Drivers: Make sure that you are using the latest drivers for the Intel® Dual Port X710-T2L. Visit the Intel website to download and install the latest drivers.
    2. Firmware Updates: Check for any available firmware updates for the Intel network adapter and the server’s BIOS. Update as necessary
