Troubleshooting - Computer Boot Failure or No Display After Boot (Black Screen)
Computer boot failure or no display after boot due to hardware or software failure. Please see the Root Causes and Troubleshooting procedures listed below.
- Check Monitor Power and VGA Cable
- Disconnect All External Devices
- Start Windows in Safe Mode
- Check Graphics Card
- Hardware Failure ( Memory / HDD etc..)
- Mother Board issues (Clear CMOS)
- Power Supply Issue
Root Causes and Troubleshooting
Check Monitor Power and VGA Cable
Check that the monitor's power cable and VGA cable are properly connected. Check the Monitor Power Light
Disconnect All External Devices
Disconnect all external devices, including USB and Lan cables, to determine the cause of the computer boot failure or no display.
Start Windows in Safe Mode
Start windows in Safe mode ( Key F8 ) and Try to Restore Windows to Confirm compactable Drivers we Used.
Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode of a computer operating system . It can also refer to a mode of operation by application software . Safe mode is intended to help to fix most , If not all problems within an Operating System.
Check Graphics Card
Check whether the graphics card is properly installed, or remove it and check the on-board display.
Hardware Failure ( Memory / HDD etc..)
Check the memory installation, whether compactable memory is used, and the HDD connector and HDD.

Mother Board issues (Clear CMOS)
Update Bios Firmware and Clear CMOS (RTC). (Remove and re insert the CMOS battery or Remove and re insert RTC Jumper)
Power Supply Issue
