Overview

This article provides troubleshooting steps for NAS units that fail to power on despite both power supply units (PSUs) showing as healthy.


Symptoms

  • NAS won't power on or is unstable
  • Both PSUs show green/healthy status
  • No RAID or disk errors
  • No overheating detected
  • Unable to register device due to system being unresponsive

Possible Causes

  • Faulty power cable or adapter
  • Power fluctuations or unstable source
  • Firmware/system failure
  • CMOS/power controller fault

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check Power Source

    • Try a different outlet
    • Use a UPS to avoid power fluctuation
  2. Inspect Cables/Adapters

    • Replace power cables with known working ones
    • Avoid extension cords during testing
  3. Reset CMOS Battery

    • Power off and unplug NAS
    • Remove CMOS battery for 3 minutes
    • Reinsert battery and power on
