KB 167125 - Fatal HW Error on Asus D500SC

Summary

ASUS D500SC desktop reported some system-wide issues on these systems.


Reported Issues
  1. fatal HW error on the PC(Source: WHEA-Logger/Event ID: 1)This seems to have caused from one of the HW drivers misbehaving. 
  2. Smallest actions like opening an excel csn cause the system freeze for over 36 hours 
  3. System crashes and freezes while accessing Drive folders via a 3rd party software
  4. Audio problems after driver updates

Steps for troubleshooting are taken by the customer.
  1. Updated Drivers and Bios 
  2. Installed the most recent versions of the drivers.
Troubleshooting Summary

  1.  As a first step, completed the Windows update; this will assist in updating OS components and hardware drives to available supported versions.





  1. After completing the Windows update, open disc management and add the second disc as a GPT disc to the machine..

  1. SSD is added to the system 
  2. The audio has been tested and found to be functional after the windows update.
  3. Run stress-testing software to evaluate the performance and components of the PC.
