The ASUS Diagnostic Tool (ADT) is an advanced utility designed for testing individual hardware components installed in the Notebook, PCs, etc. It is a Linux OS-based tool that operates from an external USB flash drive and diagnoses each hardware component. The tools aim to reduce pre-test time, increase repair accuracy, and ultimately boost customer satisfaction. 

Supported Product Types 

ADT is compatible with various ASUS product types, including Notebooks, Desktops, AIOs, Mini PCs, and Vivo PCs. However, it does not support Chromebook Series, T Series, 32bit systems, and Atom Series models. 

Use Cases 

Comprehensive Hardware Testing: ADT performs detailed diagnostics on key hardware components, identifying the exact cause of issues in ASUS notebooks.

Accurate Error Identification: When a component fails a test, ADT provides an error code with suggested solutions, ensuring precise and effective repairs.

Efficient Test Result Management: ADT offers a simple method to upload test results to the Lean eService database, facilitating repair quality monitoring and tool implementation rate tracking.

Component Tests 

ADT includes a range of component tests, such as Motherboard, Hard Disk Drive, Wi-Fi, RAM, SSD, Battery, Display, Touchscreen, Touchpad, Adapter, Keyboard, Fan, Webcam, ODD, USB, Speaker, SD Card Reader, Audio Jack, and Smart Card tests.

Test Parameters and Troubleshooting

The tool provides extensive system tests, component tests, symptom tests, and troubleshooting steps for various scenarios, including error codes, warning codes, hide codes, and pass codes.

Procedure

Requirements - An USB flash drive of 16GB SanDisk is recommended or more is required, preferably USB 3.0.

 

1. The ASUS Diagnostic Tool image can be downloaded from the SIP, which will be required to build the tool.

2. Using Rufus utility to build the ASUS Diagnostic Tool image into the USB flash drive.

3. Plug in the USB flash drive containing the tool into the USB3.0 port if the testing model has both USB3.0 and USB 2.0 to speed up the ADT test.

4. From the boot menu select the flash drive contains the ADT tool.

5. The computer will boot into ADT like shown in figure.



 

6. ADT may catch the wrong product type or unable to catch, you can choose the correct product type for testing.



 

7. Two types of tests are available in ADT 1) Extensive System Test and 2) Advanced Test.


Extensive System Test

Will execute deeper tests on components in order of adapter, display, touchscreen, touchpad, keyboard, USB, Motherboard, Storage, Wi-Fi, RAM, Battery, Fan and Webcam.

 

1.Click on the Extensive System Test.



2. Once the test completed results will be displayed.

Advanced Test

Having Component test and Symptom test.


 

1. Component Test: Choose component test to test each component separately.


2. Component tests may have a Quick Test, Full Test, and other test specific tests depending on the component.




3.Click which test is required, once the test is completed the results will be displayed. 

Test Results

ADT summarized all the test results as below, “No Issues Found”, “Error Found” and “Warning”
